Jensen Outdoor, a company based in Sandston, crafts outdoor furniture with a focus on durability and timeless style. The company prioritizes the use of resilient materials and contemporary designs, aiming for products that can last for generations. Many of their designs incorporate century-old Bolivian ipe wood, known for its longevity and unique properties. The company's origins trace back to the 1980s in Australia, where it was founded as Jensen Jarrah by Max Jensen, who utilized local jarrah wood and often repurposed leftover wood flooring for his early pieces. After entering the U.S. market in the early 1990s and undergoing several rebrands, Jensen Outdoor established its roots in Sandston, east of Richmond. Since opening its Richmond facility in 2010, the company has expanded its product range to include deep seating, teak furniture, woven pieces, and performance throw pillows, alongside its signature ipe wood collection. All furniture pieces are assembled, upholstered, and rigorously tested by the company's Richmond-based team, which comprises designers and textile experts dedicated to ensuring a timelessly modern aesthetic and purposeful design. A key distinguishing feature of Jensen Outdoor's products is their reliance on ipe wood, a slow-growing, dense timber native to Central America that takes approximately a century to mature. This Bolivian-grown wood is noted for its deep chocolate-brown hue, a burn rating comparable to concrete, and a density so substantial that it sinks in water, making it an exceptional material for robust, enduring outdoor furniture. Sustainability is an important aspect of Jensen Outdoor's operations. The company actively manages over 2 million acres of Bolivian dry forest, holding Forest Stewardship Council accreditation. This accreditation mandates adherence to stringent environmental and social guidelines, ensuring the preservation of both the forests and the well-being of local workers. This commitment reflects their mission to protect these natural resources for future generations. Jensen Outdoor recently introduced two new collections: Tempo and Velo. The Tempo collection features sharp, sleek ipe wood frames paired with Ultraleather fabric, a marine-grade, animal-free leather available in a dozen colors. The Velo collection, in contrast, showcases Solara fiber hand-woven around powder-coated aluminum frames, distinguished by its rounded edges that impart a softer visual appeal. These collections draw inspiration from mid-century designs, aiming to pique design interest through their unique materials and distinctive aesthetic. #homeDecor #furniture #outdoorLiving #outdoorDecor #JensenOutdoor #homeDecor #furniture #outdoorLiving #outdoorDecor #JensenOutdoor
