Walmart just released a bunch of new luxury sheets—and we tried them all
This article reviews Walmart's recently launched line of luxury bed sheets, designed to offer a premium sleep experience at an affordable price point. The author, Jada Kennzie, a staff writer and bargain hunter, undertook a personal test of these new sheets to assess their quality and comfort.
The new collection includes sheet sets from three brands: Better Homes & Gardens, Allswell, and Hotel Style, all priced under $70 for a Queen size. The Better Homes & Gardens sheets are made of 100% cotton sateen with a 300-thread count, featuring wrinkle resistance and Wel-Fit technology for mattresses up to 18 inches deep, retailing for $39. The Allswell sheets are crafted from viscose derived from bamboo, offering a cool, silky feel with a 300-thread count, suitable for all seasons, and include moisture-wicking properties and Optifit Technology for mattresses up to 20 inches deep, priced at $52. The Hotel Style sheets are presented as the most luxurious option, made entirely of 600-thread count Egyptian Cotton, providing a soft and silky texture with an elegant Baretta hem and True Grip Fitted Sheet technology for mattresses up to 20 inches deep, costing $59.
A key positive observation across all tested sheets was their exceptional softness, contributing to a luxurious feel that enhanced the sleep experience. The Allswell sheets were noted for their silkiness, while the Better Homes & Gardens sheets were praised for their overall softness. The Hotel Style sheets were described as providing a five-star hotel experience at home, also noted for their durable and slightly thicker construction. The high quality and breathability of all three sets, particularly the Allswell sheets, were highlighted as impressive, especially given their price. The integrated "Fit technology" in each fitted sheet was also appreciated for simplifying the bedding process, eliminating the typical struggle of putting on a fitted sheet.
However, a notable drawback was identified with the Allswell sheets regarding their cooling capabilities. Despite being advertised as cooling and ideal for breathability, the author, who experiences night sweats, found that the cooling sensation was minimal and short-lived. This was a disappointment, as a similar product from Luxome had previously provided a more effective cooling experience. Surprisingly, the Better Homes & Gardens sheets were perceived as offering a better cooling effect than the Allswell bamboo-viscose sheets. The Hotel Style sheets, being thicker, were also not conducive to alleviating night sweats and were found to be less soft and more rigid compared to the other two sets.
In conclusion, the article deems Walmart's new luxury sheets a worthwhile purchase for budget-conscious consumers seeking to upgrade their bedding. The sheets offer comfort, quality, and a touch of luxury without a hefty price tag. The availability of various fabrics, comfort levels, styles, and colors ensures options to match diverse sleep preferences and bedroom aesthetics. Despite the Allswell sheets not meeting expectations for cooling, their overall softness and silky texture made them the author's personal favorite. The Fit technology present in all sets was a universally lauded feature, making them suitable for various mattress depths.
