Discover Diptyque's Magical New Archive Wallpaper Collection
Diptyque, a brand with a history spanning 60 years, has introduced its inaugural wallpaper collection, drawing inspiration from its extensive archives. The brand was initially founded by Christiane Montadre-Gautrot, Desmond Knox-Leet, and Yves Coueslant, who were recognized for their distinctive, Art Nouveau-inspired upholstery patterns. Their early work garnered a fashionable following, establishing a foundation for the brand's aesthetic.
This new wallpaper collection serves as a tribute to Diptyque's heritage, with many of the original designs preserved within the collections of Paris' Museum of Decorative Arts. The reintroduction of these patterns leverages modern technology, specifically digital printing techniques applied to nonwoven wallpaper. This approach ensures a sustainable offering while maintaining the integrity and visual appeal of the historical designs.
The collection features various formats to suit diverse interior design needs. These include standard panels, which measure 32.8 feet in length by 1.97 feet in width. For larger decorative statements, panoramic decor options are available in two sizes: 5.9 feet by 9.19 feet, and a more expansive 11.8 feet by 9.19 feet. Additionally, the collection introduces 'Frieze' wallpaper, designed to emulate the wainscoting commonly found in traditional Parisian apartments. These Frieze panels are offered in dimensions of 18.4 feet by 3.28 feet.
An example of the collection's offerings is the pairing of Diptyque’s travel-inspired Boscage wallpaper with Basile, an archival pattern. The Basile pattern holds historical significance, having been notably used to upholster one of the sofas within the French Palais de l’Élysée. This combination highlights the brand's ability to blend historical richness with contemporary presentation, allowing these classic designs to be incorporated into modern interiors.
