Corkscrew Taphouse opens in Geneva in early September.
Corkscrew Taphouse in Geneva, Ohio, officially opened its doors in early September, introducing a new destination to the Grand River Valley appellation. The establishment, a collaboration between Abby Clark and Robert Kincaid, aims to offer a unique experience with its vintage industrial design and a wide selection of tap beverages. The interior design of Corkscrew Taphouse draws inspiration from Geneva's industrial heritage, featuring heavy iron doors at the entrance and a handcrafted 'blast furnace' door that rises above a two-sided fireplace, pinned for safety. The aesthetic is further enhanced by Edison lightbulbs used throughout the building, contributing to the vintage industrial vibe.
The layout of the taphouse is designed to accommodate a significant number of guests, with the dining room and bar capable of seating a total of 159 people. The dining area is thoughtfully divided into two sections, providing diverse settings for patrons. A notable design element is a four-panel, three-dimensional topographical map of the Grand River Valley, which not only serves as a decorative piece but also highlights the locations of local wineries. The central bar itself is a focal point, offering 22 seats and featuring a Corian bartop with a faux leather finish, cleverly designed to mimic cast concrete while being considerably lighter.
Beyond its distinctive decor, Corkscrew Taphouse prides itself on its extensive tap wall, which boasts 31 taps. This selection includes 20 wines, eight beers, two ciders, and a water tap, providing a broad range of choices for visitors. Among the wine offerings, Riesling is highlighted as one of the 20 available options. The tap wall area also provides practical amenities such as stemless wine and beer glasses, with a cooler at one end ensuring chilled glasses are always available.
In addition to the indoor seating, Corkscrew Taphouse offers an outdoor dining space, allowing guests to enjoy their beverages and food in the open air. The attention to detail in the decor extends to the restrooms, with the Women's restroom designed with a vintage theme and the Men's restroom reflecting an industrial style, maintaining the overall aesthetic coherence of the establishment. The combination of its unique design, extensive beverage selection, and inviting atmosphere positions Corkscrew Taphouse as a significant new addition to the Grand River Valley's hospitality scene.
