Swell acoustic wall cladding by Jones & Partners for The Collective
The Swell acoustic wall panel, a product of collaboration between Jones & Partners and The Collective, is presented as an innovative solution for enhancing the aesthetic and acoustic qualities of interior environments, particularly workplaces. This wall cladding is characterized by its seamless finish and distinctive rippled appearance, designed to evoke a sense of calm and visual continuity within a space.
A key feature of the Swell panel is its impressive height of 2.7 meters and its ability to create a continuous horizontal look. Craig Jones, the designer from Jones & Partners, elaborated on the precision engineering behind the product, explaining that the concentric circle design ensures the tangency point of the swell matches perfectly on both the upward and downward pivots. This meticulous design allows for direct side-by-side joining of panels, resulting in a unique continuous material run with an almost invisible visual joint. This feature contributes significantly to the product's seamless aesthetic, making it appear as a singular, flowing element across a wall.
Beyond its visual appeal, the Swell panel is engineered for acoustic performance. Its shape, reminiscent of gentle waves or loose curtains, is not merely decorative; it is integral to its function of softening interior environments and effectively dampening noise. This acoustic property is particularly beneficial in busy workplaces or other areas where sound control is crucial for comfort and productivity.
The material composition of Swell underscores its commitment to sustainability and environmental responsibility. It is manufactured in the UK using EchoPanel, a felt-like acoustic material supplied by Woven Image. EchoPanel is noteworthy for its eco-friendly credentials, as it is composed of 60 percent recycled PET bottles, contributing to a circular economy model. The production process involves heat-moulding the material using The Collective's specialized tooling, ensuring consistency and quality in the final product.
Swell is available in a diverse palette of 33 contemporary, trend-driven colors, offering a wide range of options to suit various interior design schemes and preferences. Furthermore, the material boasts a low-VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content, which signifies a reduced emission of harmful chemicals into the indoor air, promoting healthier indoor air quality. This combination of aesthetic appeal, effective acoustic management, sustainable materials, and a broad color selection positions Swell as a versatile and environmentally conscious choice for modern interior spaces.
