Jing Gao, the founder of Fly by Jing, a popular brand known for its Chili Crisp, recently released her first cookbook, "The Sichuan Chili Crisp Cookbook." This cookbook features 85 recipes, ranging from snackable dumplings to spicy-sweet desserts. Beyond being a culinary guide, the book encapsulates Gao's personal journey of self-discovery through food. It highlights her insights into the importance of condiments and her dedication to making unique and authentic flavors accessible to a broader audience. As a tastemaker, Gao shared some of her essential kitchen items that contribute to her culinary process and organized home.
Among her most used kitchen tools for recipe development is a wok. Gao emphasizes the versatility of a wok, noting its ability to steam, stir-fry, and braise, making it a fundamental piece of cookware in her kitchen. For bulk purchases, she consistently stocks up on 10-year-aged black vinegar, a Fly by Jing product. She describes this vinegar as deep and complex, so much so that it can be consumed directly.
