6 Bedroom Trends Designers Are Loving Right Now—From Layered Window Treatments to Earthy Color Palettes

This article highlights six current bedroom design trends endorsed by interior designers Kate Marker, Tracy Morris, and Madelaine Mayer, focusing on creating comfortable and stylish personal sanctuaries. The first trend emphasizes a 'back-to-nature' palette, incorporating earthy neutrals such as beige, brown, and green, alongside natural materials like wood, rattan, and linen. This approach aims to provide a calming and sophisticated atmosphere, drawing inspiration from the relaxing qualities of nature. The second trend features fully upholstered furniture, with a particular emphasis on four-poster beds and ottomans. This trend prioritizes softness and coziness, extending beyond traditional bedding to the structural elements of the room. Designers note that this creates a luxurious feel, combining clean lines with ultimate comfort. Layered window treatments constitute the third trend, advocating for a multi-faceted approach to privacy, light control, and aesthetic appeal. The recommended strategy involves three layers: a privacy sheer, a blackout roller or Roman shade, and decorative drapery panels. Additionally, cornices are suggested for visual continuity and to conceal hardware. Drapery can also be used creatively in place of closet doors or as a headboard, enhancing cohesion and a cocoon-like softness in the room. The fourth trend addresses mood lighting, moving away from harsh overhead illumination to create a tranquil environment. This involves incorporating various light sources such as floor lamps, bedside sconces, and specialized reading lights, allowing for adjustable ambiance to suit different times of day and activities within the bedroom. Color drenching is presented as the fifth trend, where walls, ceilings, and trim are painted the same color. This technique creates an immersive, uniform look, making the bedroom feel bold, dramatic, and exceptionally snug. It is seen as a way to enhance the comforting and sophisticated appeal of the space. Finally, the article discusses pared-back bedding, a move towards simplification in bed styling. Instead of numerous decorative pillows and elaborate patterns, the trend favors solids and textures in subtle earth tones. Designers recommend limiting sleeping pillows to two to four and adding a single decorative lumbar pillow. This minimalist approach aims for a relaxed yet elegant aesthetic, focusing on ease and sophistication rather than excessive adornment. These trends collectively offer pathways to update bedrooms for enhanced comfort and style, particularly relevant for the upcoming winter season. #BedroomTrends #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #CozyBedroom #NaturalPalette #UpholsteredFurniture #LayeredWindowTreatments #MoodLighting #ColorDrenching #MinimalistBedding #BedroomTrends #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #CozyBedroom #NaturalPalette #UpholsteredFurniture #LayeredWindowTreatments #MoodLighting #ColorDrenching #MinimalistBedding
