Lone Fox and Joon Loloi are back with another sensational collab
Drew Michael Scott, the creative force behind Lone Fox, and Joon Loloi have released their second collaborative collection of rugs and pillows, deeply rooted in Scott's distinct vintage-inspired aesthetic. This new collection builds upon the success of their initial partnership, further refining the 'Lone Fox DNA' while incorporating fresh inspirations. Scott emphasizes that his love for antiques and patinaed items is an intrinsic part of his design philosophy, naturally influencing the collection rather than being a forced choice. The new range offers an evolved perspective on his signature style, allowing individuals to integrate this aesthetic into their own homes.
The collection draws inspiration from various sources, notably a trip Scott and the Joon Loloi team took to Round Top, Texas, a renowned antique and vintage decor hub. This experience infused the collection with a subtle Western vibe, carefully balanced to avoid a 'themey' feel. Elements like rope and basketweave patterns are reinterpreted, reflecting Scott's interest in textures found in fashion and his desire to abstract traditional designs. These details contribute to a nuanced Western influence, offering versatility that can lean nautical or simply serve as unexpected decorative features.
The color palette for the collection was inspired by a 1940s French painting, from which Scott extracted color swatches to ensure cohesion. The resulting palette features muted earth tones, including shades of brown, beige, green, and blue. Scott prefers these approachable and livable colors, noting their timeless quality and ability to integrate seamlessly across different eras and home styles. This choice ensures the pieces can either stand as focal points or blend harmoniously within existing decor schemes.
Key pieces from the collection exemplify these design principles. The Goldenrod Hand-Tufted Rug, with its bold stripe print and soft, earthy colors, makes a statement without being overwhelming, further enhanced by its high-low pile. The Holmes Pillow, featuring a vintage-inspired geometric design in a rich color palette, embodies antique charm and is suitable for various seating arrangements. The Lariat Hand-Tufted Rug stands out with its playfully wavy edge and subtle rope-inspired elements, crafted from a wool blend by skilled artisans. The Clearwater Hand-Tufted Rug, with its denim color and tile-like design, merges Western influences with a vintage aesthetic, offering both visual and textural appeal with its high-low pile. The Elliot Pillow showcases a simple yet intricate basketweave design in a natural cotton blend, adding textural elegance to any space.
The Hollyhock Printed Tapestry Rug is a reinterpretation of a popular piece from the first collaboration, drawing its design from a 17th-century Belgian tapestry in Scott’s living room, now presented in a warm new colorway and versatile enough to be used as a tapestry. The Bandelier Hand-Tufted Wool Rug introduces a unique stripe design with contrasting clay and wine colors, inspired by basketweave intricacies. Lastly, the Isaac Pillow, handwoven from cotton and natural cellulose, further highlights the collection's basketweave inspiration with its intricate texture. The Cavalier Printed Rug, with its clear rope influence, features a knotted rope design and an inner rope motif, offering durability and softness. Each piece is designed to create a lived-in, layered, and 'grounding' atmosphere, evoking a sense of nostalgia and connecting back to nature.
