This Naturalist Color Palette is What Outdoorsy Interior Dreams Are Made Of

This article details a room transformation project using Sherwin-Williams' Naturalist color palette, focusing on bringing the outdoors indoors. The project was executed in a combined living room and dining room within an industrial loft apartment. The objective was to create an organic, airy, and relaxing atmosphere by integrating greens and blues from the Naturalist palette, complemented by numerous live plants. Mid-century wood furniture with structured, yet inviting, designs was chosen to maintain a polished look while organic shapes were primarily reserved for the plants themselves. The living room section of the space features deep blue chairs, a green couch, and cozy textiles, aiming for a boho aesthetic without appearing cluttered. To soften the industrial feel of the loft, a rattan chandelier was installed, adding warmth and texture. A key design element in the living room is a statement wall painted with an agave plant pattern. This design was selected for its simplicity to paint and its harmonious pairing with mid-century aesthetics, drawing inspiration from areas like Joshua Tree and Palm Springs. The background color for the mural is Waterloo SW 9141, which serves as a deep tone to make the bold Lemon Verbena SW 7726 pattern pop. Pearl Gray SW 0052 was used for detailing to integrate the mural with the overall room design. The agave plants are described as resembling "plant-inspired sunbursts. For the dining room area, the design prioritized a spacious feel without appearing sparse, a crucial consideration for a space co-joined with the living room. The Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap® Color ID system proved instrumental in selecting colors that naturally complement each other, offering a cohesive guide for open-concept layouts. Camel-colored brown leather chairs were chosen to echo the hue of the window frames. Similar to the living room, plants were extensively utilized to introduce color into this section. The use of extra-long curtains, even on non-floor-length windows, was a deliberate choice to enhance warmth and texture. A plant bench is positioned between the living and dining areas, serving to connect the two spaces while offering additional seating. This element reinforces the naturalist theme, suggesting a setting ideal for discussing outdoor adventures. The article encourages readers to utilize the Sherwin-Williams ColorSnap® Color ID quiz to discover personalized color palettes, suggesting it may inspire multiple home makeovers. #HomeDecor #DIYProjects #PaintIdeas #PaintProjects #DIYBasics #NaturalistPalette #SherwinWilliams #InteriorDesign #ColorPalette #HomeDecor #DIYProjects #PaintIdeas #PaintProjects #DIYBasics #NaturalistPalette #SherwinWilliams #InteriorDesign #ColorPalette
