Fireclay Farmhouse Sink Buying Guide: What Actually Matters

Honestly the sink ended up being the thing I obsessed over most in our whole kitchen reno, which I did not see coming. We went fireclay in the end. Saw a few in person and the apron front just looked solid, heavy in a good way, and everything I read said it handles heat and doesn't scratch up easily. That sold me because I'm rough on my cookware. What got me was the pricing. Same material, pretty much the same sink, but a couple of the big names wanted almost double just for the brand. I spent way too long comparing and ended up going with a smaller company that only makes fireclay sinks and nothing else. Two years in and it still looks great, and trust me it's been through a lot. Few things I figured out if you're shopping: 1. ask what temperature it's fired at, the real stuff is kiln-fired over 2,000°F 2. measure your cabinet before anything, apron sinks need a specific cutout and we nearly got this wrong 3. don't pay extra for a logo, where it's actually made matters way more No regrets at all.
