Rust-Oleum launches its new Kitchen Cupboard Paint
Rust-Oleum has unveiled its new Kitchen Cupboard Paint, offering a diverse palette of 110 vibrant shades. This product facilitates a quick and affordable transformation of kitchen cupboards, with a touch-dry time of just one hour. The introduction of this paint aligns with the growing popularity of 'the painted kitchen' trend, which allows homeowners to refresh their kitchen aesthetics without the significant expense of replacing entire units. Charlie Smallbone, founder of Ledbury Studio, highlights that a well-built, hand-painted kitchen can be easily updated by sanding and repainting the units in a new color.
Rust-Oleum's Kitchen Cupboard Paint is formulated as a premium chalky blend, designed to deliver an ultra-flat matte finish that is soft to the touch yet highly durable. Its hard-wearing properties ensure it can withstand frequent cleaning, making it suitable for high-traffic kitchen environments prone to splashes and splatters. A key advantage of this paint is that it generally does not require a primer or topcoat for wooden or melamine cupboards, simplifying the painting process. However, priming is recommended for surfaces where stain bleed, particularly from knots, might be an issue. For glossy cupboards, a light sanding with fine-grit sandpaper is advised before application.
To assist customers in selecting the ideal shade, Rust-Oleum offers tester sachets for 99p, each containing enough paint to cover a 30 x 30cm area. The article showcases several of the available shades, including Dusky Pink, Emerald, Butterscotch, Natural Charcoal, Chalk White, Teal, Ink Blue, Mustard, and Mineral Grey. Each color is presented with brief descriptions highlighting its aesthetic appeal and potential impact on a kitchen space, such as Dusky Pink for personality, Emerald for a calming natural feel, Butterscotch for warmth, Natural Charcoal for a bold look, Chalk White for a fresh and minimalist style, Teal for elegance and soothing vibes, Ink Blue for a classic complement to various schemes, Mustard for brightness, and Mineral Grey as a versatile and reliable option.
Instructions for applying the paint are provided to ensure a successful outcome. These steps include thoroughly cleaning all surfaces with a degreasing detergent, masking off areas not intended for painting to achieve clean edges, and covering worktops and floors to protect against drips. Additionally, handles from cupboards and drawers should be removed prior to painting. The paint should be stirred well before use. Application involves using a brush for hard-to-reach areas and a short nap roller for the broader surfaces. Samples of Rust-Oleum's Kitchen Cupboard Paint are available for purchase online through rustoleumcolours.co.uk.
