Key elements highlighted include the open-concept layout, a microwave drawer, a wine refrigerator, a second oven in the island to save space, and a custom built-in corkboard for organization. The second kitchen, titled “Bold and Blue,” is located in a penthouse at The Ritz-Carlton and was designed by Jane Bell of Jane Bell Interior Design and Jeni Spaeth of Bilotta Kitchens. The client, a divorced father of two teenage boys, desired a comfortable yet sophisticated space with dramatic flair. The apartment's wraparound windows offering stunning views of Manhattan, the Hudson River, and Brooklyn significantly influenced the design, particularly the cabinet color choice. After testing various samples, a vibrant Symphony Blue was selected for the cabinetry, as it visually disappeared into the reflection of the windows, softening the industrial feel of the glass walls. The design incorporates an eclectic mix of styles and materials, featuring frameless cabinets and an inset cabinet over the sink from Bilotta’s private label collection. The island countertop is made of striking Blue Bahia stone with flecks of deep blue and gold, which inspired the choice of art deco-style satin brass hardware from Colonial Bronze, creating a cohesive look with brass trim on the stove. Functionality was paramount, with the island designed to accommodate appliances, cutlery, and comfortable seating for tall individuals, integrating seamlessly with the rest of the apartment's sleek, sexy, and comfortable aesthetic. The third project, “Crisp and Kosher,” involved a collaboration between Keller/Eaton Architects, Leah Diamond (Interior Designer at Leicht), and homeowner Rebekah Ingber, with construction by Robert Paul Graziano of Cerchio Construction Co. The homeowner, a fashion designer, sought a light-colored, contemporary kitchen, specifically a kosher kitchen, which required space for two sinks, two dishwashers, and two ovens. The kitchen’s footprint was expanded with an extension to provide more space for the family and entertaining. The design process involved multiple layouts to optimize the challenging requirements of a kosher kitchen while maximizing storage for dishes and serving pieces. The final design features matte gray laminate cabinets (Ceres Platinum) and Caesarstone Blizzard countertops, which create a light, crisp aesthetic and allow a marble backsplash to stand out. A breakfast bar was included for the children, and a broom closet adds practical storage.
