Nate Berkus' used clever vase-to-lamp hack for his own nightstands – here's how you can, too

Superstar interior designer, TV host, and author Nate Berkus consistently introduces innovative hacks and clever ideas aimed at simplifying life or infusing spaces with personality, often without requiring a significant financial outlay. His practical suggestions are accessible, encouraging even those with limited DIY experience to attempt them. This particular hack focuses on bedroom lighting, specifically bedside lamps. Berkus recently shared on Instagram that he frequently receives inquiries about the bedside lamps featured in his guest bedroom. He subsequently provided a step-by-step guide for creating similar lamps. For individuals who prefer not to engage in DIY, he also disclosed the source where he acquired his original lamps. The DIY process for creating unique bedside lamps, as outlined by Nate Berkus, is straightforward and time-efficient. The first step involves selecting a vase or a pair of matching vases, depending on whether one desires single or matching lamps, along with a lamp kit. A crucial detail is ensuring the chosen vases have an opening with approximately a 5-inch radius. The next step entails drilling a hole in the bottom or back of the vase to accommodate the electrical cord. This can be done independently or with assistance from a DIY store. For those assembling the lamps from home, lampshades can be purchased online. Once the lampshades are assembled over the vases, the project is complete, transforming the creator into a part-time lamp designer and enhancing the aesthetic of a guest bedroom. Berkus emphasizes that this technique is not new, having been historically used to repurpose items like old Chinese vases or other ceramics into functional lamps. For those disinclined towards DIY, Berkus revealed that he acquired his specific lamps from Blend Interiors, an antique dealer in Los Angeles, which he regards as an exceptional antique shop. While locating the exact same lamps may be challenging, the shop offers a wide array of unique items. Decorating with antiques is highlighted as an enjoyable way to create a distinctive and personalized look. The lamps Berkus purchased are 20th-century Dutch, marked with 'Holland' and signed. They are made of pottery and feature hand-painted interior surface designs. Each lamp possesses slightly different patterns, making them a similar yet uniquely individual pair, which adds to their charm and beauty. This information presents two distinct paths for achieving stylish bedside lighting: a hands-on DIY approach or a curated antique acquisition. #NateBerkus #DIYLighting #HomeDecorHack #BedroomLighting #VaseToLamp #InteriorDesignTips #AntiqueDecor #GuestBedroomIdeas #CreativeHomeSolutions #NateBerkus #DIYLighting #HomeDecorHack #BedroomLighting #VaseToLamp #InteriorDesignTips #AntiqueDecor #GuestBedroomIdeas #CreativeHomeSolutions
