Let’s Talk About Zara Home’s Stunning New Campaign
Zara Home recently unveiled its Fall/Winter 2018 campaign, which was shot at the iconic Villa Borsani in Italy. This collaboration offers a unique opportunity to explore the meticulously preserved interiors of the villa, designed by architect and furniture designer Osvaldo Borsani. The villa, previously open to the public for a brief period during Milan Design Week 2018 after a ten-year closure, serves as a captivating backdrop for Zara Home's new collection, which emphasizes sophistication with velvet fabrics, embroidered flowers, and sequined animal motifs.
The creative decision to feature Villa Borsani was inspired by the desire to find a setting that exuded elegance and complemented the new collection's luxurious aesthetic. Creative consultancy Campbell-Rey proposed the villa, which resonated with the entire Zara Home team, who were immediately impressed by the villa's striking features, such as its geometric marble floors and imposing glass staircase upon their initial visit. The photoshoot, spanning three days, allowed the team significant freedom to rearrange existing furniture and elements within the home to suit their artistic vision.
Throughout the campaign imagery, Zara Home's new products are seamlessly integrated with the villa's original furnishings and architectural details. For instance, the brand's serveware is showcased on an inlay card table designed by Marcella Piccardo for Borsani, while jewel-toned Zara Home textiles are positioned alongside a golden vanity custom-made for the villa. These pairings highlight the brand's commitment to detail and how small elements contribute significantly to a home's overall aesthetic.
The campaign photography employs a bright flash and off-kilter angles, creating an intimate and playful atmosphere that mimics a personal photo album. Zara Home explained that the scenes, shot with Tinko Czetwertynski, were designed to feel unstaged and vibrant. The conceptual narrative behind the shoot imagined a creative young woman inheriting the villa and infusing it with her personal style using pieces from the Zara Home collection, thus bringing a sense of vitality and contemporary energy to Borsani’s masterpiece while respecting its original design and existing furniture.
The article also highlights several interior design observations gleaned from the campaign, such as the potential of wall-to-wall carpeting in bold colors, the idea of painting radiators to match wall colors, and the appeal of scalloped details in decor. The campaign successfully merges contemporary home furnishings with a historic architectural marvel, offering inspiration for home decoration and emphasizing the timeless appeal of well-designed spaces.
