Update your furniture with extreme texture, the biggest trend in upholstery…

The "Volume" collection by Kirkby Design introduces a new trend in textiles, characterized by extreme textures. This collection, which includes designs such as jumbo cord, quilting, and bouclé, marks a significant shift from the brand's traditional graphic patterns. Jordan Mould, creative director of Kirkby Design, emphasizes the collection's focus on tactile qualities and technical details, aiming to create a visceral experience for users. This trend aligns with a growing consumer interest in tactile and fluffy furniture. Examples of this emerging preference are seen in the use of snowy white bouclé upholstery, such as Pierre Frey’s ‘Louison’ bouclette, which has been featured in several boutique hotels. Additionally, Raf Simons for Kvadrat has introduced ‘Argo 2,’ a deep-pile mohair fabric known for its lustrous appearance and vibrant color palette, including acid yellow, flamingo pink, and a distinctive Cookie Monster blue. For the "Volume" collection, Mould intentionally selected a subdued color palette to prevent the colors from overshadowing the intricate textures of the fabrics. The collection features 11 designs available in practical hues, including pale pastels, Hunter green, and various shades of grey, ensuring versatility in application. Key designs within the Kirkby collection include 'Snug,' a large quilted herringbone pattern, and 'Jumbo Cord,' a plush velvet. 'Roses' incorporates quilted, cushioned flowers, while 'Brush' mimics the texture of sheepskin. 'Cricket' is a unique design that pays homage to classic sporting jumpers, utilizing cotton yarns recycled from the fashion industry. These diverse textures offer a range of sensory experiences. The article suggests that such luxurious and “extra” textiles can provide comfort and visual interest, especially during uncertain times. The 'Volume' collection starts from £125 per meter, and 'Louison' bouclette from Pierre Frey is priced at £547 per meter. Additional on-trend extreme textiles are also highlighted, including Camira's ‘Synergy Quilt Chevron’ wool-blend fabric, Designers Guild’s ‘Corda’ cotton corduroy in ‘Ochre,’ Camengo’s ‘Clouds’ linen-mix fabric from the ‘Nuit d’Été’ collection, and Pierre Frey’s ’Louison’ bouclette. These textiles are designed to make a sensory statement in any home, reflecting the broader movement towards incorporating rich and varied textures in interior design. #UpholsteryTrend #ExtremeTexture #KirkbyDesign #VolumeCollection #TactileFabrics #Boucle #JumboCord #QuiltedFabrics #HomeDecor #TextileDesign #UpholsteryTrend #ExtremeTexture #KirkbyDesign #VolumeCollection #TactileFabrics #Boucle #JumboCord #QuiltedFabrics #HomeDecor #TextileDesign
