Architects and Designers Pick Their Favorite New Textiles, Paints and Hardware (Published 2016)

The home furnishings market sees over $40 billion in merchandise sales annually, with trends in products constantly evolving due to shifting fashions and technological advancements. Given the sheer volume of available products, discerning the most imaginative and current designs can be challenging. To navigate this abundance, a curated selection of recent product recommendations was gathered from 30 prominent interior designers and architects. Ghislaine Viñas highlights the Visioni A Soie rug by Patricia Urquiola for CC Tapis, noting its contemporary yet retro 70s aesthetic. Calvin Tsao and Zack McKown appreciate Nanz hardware for its tactile qualities and the company's local base in Long Island City. Pilar Proffitt and Rob Bristow of Poesis Design favor Benjamin Moore's Mysterious paint for its versatile color, which transitions from deep blue to soft navy or near-black depending on the finish and lighting. Charlotte Lucas praises Sarah Laskow's hand-embroidered textiles as masterpieces. Mark Janson finds the Lomma Carlalid carpet, designed by Calle Henzel, reminiscent of fine art with its unique and beautiful coloration. Sheila Bridges recommends Twenty2's Deep 3D wallpaper, humorously noting its modern, interactive quality, complete with 3D glasses. Mikyoung Kim, a landscape designer, values Tournesol's outdoor wood tiles, made from domestic lumber, for their sustainable alternative to exotic hardwoods for roof decks. Frank de Biasi is particularly taken with the Mushroom checkered doorknob from JKC&D;, a new custom hardware line by Jessica Kagan Cushman and Judy K. Dimon. Ken Fulks applauds the "bold, chic" Nigel’s Tartan wool upholstery fabric collection by Hermès and Dedar. Ms. Lucas also regards the re-introduced Madeleine Castaing wallpaper borders by Brunschwig et Fils as timeless and classic. Ellen Hamilton, a New York designer, praises Benjamin Moore's Golden Gate paint for its urbanity, noting its harmonious appearance against city skylines. Doug and Gene Meyer's Brushstroke outdoor fabric for Link Outdoor is deemed "perfect poolside" by Mr. de Biasi. Young Huh appreciates Devine Color Metal Karat paint, available at Target, for its even application and lasting luster, suggesting the addition of Devine Dust for a subtle, sophisticated sparkle resembling a faux finish. These selections collectively form a comprehensive lookbook, showcasing some of the most innovative and appealing new textiles, paints, and hardware currently available in the home design market. The recommendations reflect a broad spectrum of products, from flooring and wall coverings to hardware and upholstery fabrics, catering to various aesthetic preferences and functional requirements in contemporary interior and exterior design projects. #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #TextileDesign #PaintColors #ArchitecturalHardware #DesignerRecommendations #HomeFurnishings #ModernDesign #DecorTrends #InteriorDesign #HomeDecor #TextileDesign #PaintColors #ArchitecturalHardware #DesignerRecommendations #HomeFurnishings #ModernDesign #DecorTrends
