The Best Flatware of 2026 | Reviews by Wirecutter

The article provides a comprehensive guide to selecting the best flatware, detailing 11 recommended sets across various styles, including modern, retro, classic, and formal designs. The selections are based on extensive research and testing conducted since 2016, involving evaluations of over 300 individual utensils. Key criteria for selection included design, weight, balance, comfort, and overall quality, with an emphasis on durability and resistance to rust. Testing methodology involved real-life scenarios, where flatware was used to consume various foods, and assessments were made on cutting ability, scoop capacity, and overall user experience. Experts, including metallurgists, flatware factory owners, and etchers, were consulted, and a factory tour was conducted to understand manufacturing processes. To ensure objectivity, brand names were concealed during testing, and participants evaluated sets based solely on their physical characteristics and performance.
